Notes: This is the closest recipe that I could find to my Grandma Hobbs'. She was born July 3, 1905 in Oklahoma and died January 14, 1974 in Carthage. I have the fondest memories of her. She loved her family unconditionally. Grandma was a wonderful cook. She was in her element when she was fishing and camping on the river bank. Her one vice was taking a dip of Garrett Snuff. Grandpa's was Days Work chewing tobacco. Grandma and Grandpa really enjoyed watching wrestling and westerns on TV. They loved Christmas and were of the Pentecostal faith. They had six children: Thelma Estelle, Elmer, Helen Hattie, Ellen Marie, Burl Loyd, Durl Lester and Carolyn Sue, Grandma was everything a mother and grandmother should be and he was the best grandpa to a whole bunch of mischievous grandkids. I know this is where my own mother got her kind heart, compassion and zest for life. This photo courtesy of Letretha Yount, grand-daughter.
