Basic Baste:


1 stick (8 T.) salted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. fresh ground pepper or cracked pepper

Optional ingredients:


1/4 c. freshly chopped parsley or cilantro
1 tsp. sweet or hot paprika
1/2-1 tsp. hot pepper flakes
2 T. fresh lemon juice or 1/2 tsp. grated lemon zest

Directions:
Directions:
Place all ingredients in saucepan over medium heat (except lemon juice, if used) until garlic is translucent and fragrant. Remove from heat and add lemon juice. Cool to room temperature and use or refrigerate and use later.
