Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pkg active dry yeast
1 1/3 c. warm water (use warm tap water)
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/4 - 4 c. flour
Optional toppings cinnamon sugar, garlic salt, sea salt.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425ºF. Grease 2 large baking sheets. In large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water, stir with rubber spatula until blended and yeast is dissolved. With wooden spoon, gradually stir in sugar, salt, and enough flour (3 1/2 - 4 c.) until soft dough forms.
Turn dough onto a well floured counter. Knead dough for 5-7 minutes. Add additional flour if dough is sticking to hands or counter.
Cut dough into 6 equal pieces. With floured hands roll each piece of dough back and forth between palms of hands to form a dough rope. Continue rolling and stretching dough rope until 15 inches long. Place rope on baking sheet and cross left side of rope over the middle of rope creating a loop then fold right side of rope up and over first loop to form pretzel shape. Continue with remaining dough and place pretzels 3 inches apart on baking sheet. Enlarge holes in pretzels using index finger. Spread with melted butter or margarine and sprinkle with your choice of topping (cinnamon sugar, garlic salt, sea salt)
Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown, pretzels taste best eaten warm.

Personal Notes:
You can top pretzels before or after baking. I love cinnamon sugar pretzels dipped in glaze (1 c. powder sugar, 1/4 tsp vanilla, and 1 tbsp milk)
