2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c.shortening
3/4 c.milk
Jam, butter or peanut butter for topping

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
Cut in shortening with flour mixture until mixture resembles course crumbs. Blend in up to 3/4 c. milk to make a soft dough. Place dough onto lightly floured surface and knead gently for 20 seconds.
Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness, cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter (or you can use the top of a glass).
Place biscuits on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 425º for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. Cut and top with jam, butter or peanut butter.
