I was relaxing at The Greenbrier recently and had a fruit plate for dinner that featured red raspberries. On that cold winter night as I savored the taste of those raspberries, I thought about the raspberries my Granny grew in her garden. My first taste of them was from her hand, and then Bobby and I would sneak out and get them for ourselves.

The Greenbrier didn't offer grapes on the fruit plate or as part of the breakfast buffet. But my Granny also grew grapes. I loved to get those grapes when they were green and not yet ripe. People warned us that the green ones would give us a bellyache, but I never got one from them. They were so good! Even today, if someone has grapes growing in their yard, I ask them to let me know when they are almost ready to harvest but still green.
