Milk (heated)
Dried beef
canned green peas

Consistency:Fat - Butter - Salt - Milk
Thin: 1 tbl - 1 tbl - ¼ tsp - 1 c
Medium: 2 tbl - 2 tbl - ¼ tsp - 1 c
Thick: 3 tbl - 3 tbl - ¼ tsp - 1 c
Very thick: 4 tbl - 4 tbl - ¼ tsp - 1 c
Heat butter in shallow sauce pan on low heat. Add flour & salt to butter & stir until blended. Add hot milk gradually, stirring constantly & let the sauce boil gently for 2 minutes. For SOS use the medium.
Add dried beef(as much as you’d like) and 1 can of green peas.
Serve on toast. Makes 1 cup of white sauce.
