Sauce:
1 cup brown sugar
3 cups boiling water
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbs butter or margarine

Biscuit Dough:
11/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 tbs shortening
milk as required

Directions:

Mix to soft batter and drop from spoon into boiling water mixture. Keep at boiling point for 15 minutes.

1969 - I first found this recipe in an old cookbook and decided to try it because of the recipe title. It became one of my children's favorites. We used it often and still do today. I find that it is much better if the sauce recipe is doubled. Also boil on medium boil to help keep the dumplings intact.
