1 large can of whole tomatoes
1/2 cup red onion
2 tsp vinegar
1 tsp salt (to taste)
2-4 garlic cloves
handful or bunch of cilantro
serrano pepper (or jalapeno)
chili tepin, crushed (about 1/4 of the bag or 1.5 tsp of whole)
pinch of chili pequin (red pepper flakes)

Crush the chili tepin in a coffee grinder.In a food processor, crush the tomatoes, add all other ingredients except the onions. Add onions last and pulse to desired consistency. Let the flavors settle for a few hours in the fridge! Enjoy!

Reuben Maes' uncle makes this spicy hot salsa and won't give up the recipe:) Wear gloves when handling chili tepin! You will find the chili tepin in Latin markets. They are very small, smaller than peas; very hot!
