1/4 c. butter, not margarine
1 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
1 tbsp. evaporated milk or whipping cream
1/4 tea. salt
3 lg. eggs
2 tbsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 c. broken pecans
1 (9") unbaked pie shell

Cream butter, add sugar gradually, then add syrup and evaporated milk. In another bowl add salt to eggs and beat until light. Stir well into first mixture; add vanilla and pecans. Use 1 c. nuts for halves or 1 1/2 c. if broken into pieces. The halves make a prettier pie. Pour mixture into a 9" unbaked pie shell. Bake pie in a preheated 400º oven for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 350º and bake for 35 to 40 min. longer until a silver knife inserted in filling comes out clean.
