2/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
2 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar. Add well beaten eggs. Add vanilla. Mix flour, salt, soda, oats and nuts, add to the creamed mixture. Form into rolls and wrap in waxed paper. Chill in refrigerators. Slice thin and bake 10-12 minutes @ 400º.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
