4 qts squash cut in thin wheels
2 qts medium onions cut in rings
1/2 c. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix squash, onions and salt in big pan and cover with ice cubes (about 4 trays of ice) for at least 3 hours. Drain and rinse with cold water.

Mix with following:
5 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. Tumeric
1 Tbsp. celery seed
1 Tbsp. mustard seed

Put 1/2 of this mixture on stove at a time and bring to a good boil (about 2 minutes). Stir a little while cooking. Pour boiling mixture in cans and seal. Makes 8 pints.
