1 c. sugar
2 T. soft shortening
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 c. mashed bananas
3 c. flour
3-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix thoroughly the sugar, shortening and egg. Stir in milk and mashed bananas. Sift together and stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Blend in chopped nuts. Pour into well-greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Let stand 20 minutes before baking. Bake at 350º for 70 minutes or until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean (crack in top is characteristic).
