2/3 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 tsp grated lemon peel
2 tsp vanilla
2 egg
4 Tbl milk
2 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts
3 cups Wheaties crushed
Directions:
Directions:
Cream first four ingredients, add egg and milk. Add dry ingredients and mix well, stir in raisins and nuts. Drop on crushed wheaties to coat, roll gently so balls of dough are completely coated. Place on greased cookie sheet about 2" apart, top each cookie with a half of a maraschino cherry gently pushed into the center of the cookie. Bake for 10 minutes
