2/3 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
2 egg whites, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup strawberry preserves
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Cream together butter and sugar.
Gradually add egg yolks, vanilla, salt and flour; mix until well blended.

Shape batter into 1 inch balls, dip in egg whites, and place on greased cookie sheet.
Press thumb into top of each ball to create thumbprint.

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes; allow to cool.
Just before serving, fill holes with strawberry preserves.
