"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

1-1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cut up fruit, either apples or nectarines depending on which kind of crisp that you are making. Toss fruit with lemon juice. Mix together 1/3 cup sugar, flour, or tapioca and toss with fruit. Pour into 9X13 pan and sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon.
Crisp:
Melt 1 stick of butter in saucepan, remove from heat and quickly add brown sugar and oats stirring together. Then add walnuts.
Combine crisp and spoon over fruit.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes or until apples are tender and fruit mixture bubbles. (Nectarines may take only 30-45 min.)
Make these crisps according to your liking. You can't go wrong. Adjust amounts of fruit and crisp. Some like it juicy, others like it crispier. Play around with the ingredients and have fun with it! The nectarine one can even be put on the grill in foil pan and covered with foil.
