6 tablespoons finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons butter
1 pound ground beef
1/4 pound lean ground pork
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup water
1 cup cream

Directions:
Directions:
Brown onion in butter. Mix together with the rest of the meatball ingredients. Shape into 1-inch balls. Brown meatballs over medium heat in 2 tbsp. of butter. When meatballs are thoroughly cooked, remove and keep warm while preparing gravy.

Add a mixture of the flour, sugar,salt and pepper
to the fat in the pan. Heat until mixture bubbles and flour is lightly browned. Remove from heat; add gradually, stirring 1 cup water and 1 cup cream. Cook rapidly, stirring constantly until mixture thickens; don't boil. Cook 1 or 2 minutes. Pour over meatballs in serving dish and serve at once.

This recipe is my sister Judy's recipe. She put this recipe in the cookbook our family made in honor of our Mother's 90th birthday, "Cooking With Grandma Hazel". This recipe is delicious!
