2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 softened butter (not margarine)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. pumpkin (not quite 1 small can of pumpkin)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream the butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and baking soda.
Add spices, salt, and pumpkin puree.
The last step is to add the flour, a small bit at a time until all mixed.
Use a little scoop to form cookies on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350ºF for 10 minutes.

Important note: Triple the recipe and you can use the ENTIRE large can of pumpkin puree instead of using partial small cans. Kathryn remembers her mother making these for home concert desserts and as gifts to neighbors. Tripling the recipe is a good idea because they disappear so quickly!
