Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
6 - 7 cups flour
--------
2 pkgs yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 tsp sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Scald the milk, add shortening. Stir until melted. Add sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Prepare mixture of yeast, warm water and sugar, set aside to "work". Add 1 cup of the flour, then beaten eggs and the yeast mixture. Slowly add the rest of the flour, putting in small amounts at a time. Knead gently and put in greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled. Knead down and let rise again. Cut small off portions and roll into a rope, then form letter O into a knot, and place on lightly greased lightly greased baking pans. Let rise 1 hour (until nearly doubled). Bake at 375º for 6 -7 minutes. Do not overbake!

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is requested by everyone in our family for holiday and all other family events. They wait by the oven for fresh ones, because that is or course when they are the best! (I have discontinued making the knotted O's and make crescent rolls instead. Divide the dough in to 4 pieces, roll out into a circle and cut into 16 sections...like spokes on a wagon wheel.)
