2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup water
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup shortening
1 1/4 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
4 ozs melted, unsweetened chocolate

Frosting

1/3 cup butter or margarine
3 ozs melted, unsweetened chocolate
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Grease and flour 13X9X2 inch pan or 2 round (9inch) cake pans. Measure all ingredients (except frosting ingredients) into large mixer bowl. Mix 1 -2 minutes on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes on high speed. Bake oblong 40 to 45 minutes; bake round layers 30 to 35 minutes or until top spring s back when lightly touched. Cool.

Frosting

Mix butter and cooled chocolate thoroughly. Blend in sugar. Stir in sour cream and vanilla; beat until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.
