2/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup milk
2, one ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/3 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Combine brown sugar, milk, and unsweetened chocolate in a saucepan. Stir over very low heat until chocolate melts; cool. Gradually add brown sugar to shortening, creaming until sugar is dissolved. Add vanilla and eggs,one at a time, beating well after each. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternating with 1/2 cup milk, beating after each addition. Stir in chocolate mixture. Fill paper cups in muffin pans half full. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) until done.

Found recipe in an old cookbook because we wanted desert one night. Don't forget to sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar. Best cupcakes ever!
