Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. shortening 2 c. sugar
2 eggs 2 c. applesauce
4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt 4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. clove
1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. raisins
2 c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
You can substitute 2 or 3 tbsp. cocoa for flour if you want. I add fruit mix and dates to make a fruit cake. Always flour raisins and nuts with some of the flour so they will not all go to bottom of the mix. Grease the bread pans and sprinkle with flour. Bake at 350º for 40-50 minutes or until done. Let cool in pans, on cooling racks for 15 min. then dump out of pans and place on cooling racks. Makes 2 loaves.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Grandma: Make sure to use bread pans. It doesn't cook all the way in a cake pan.
Sylvia: This is a fruit cake that Momma always made at Christmas time and I do also.
