Ingredients:
Ingredients:
30 med cucumbers
2 Vidalia onions
2 red onions (for color)
1 cup pickling salt
4 cups white vinegar
5 cups sugar
2 teaspoons turmeric
2 tablespoons celery seed
2 tablespoons mustard seed

Directions:
Directions:
Use only garden fresh cucumbers and onions. Pickles will be cloudy if you do not use pickling salt. Peel onions, slice, then add to unpeeled cucumbers that have been cut with a serrater (crinkle cutter), making thin slices. Mix all ingredients and pour over slices, mix together lightly. Place in glass jars and refrigerate. Stir lightly once daily and try to let stand in fridge for 3 to 5 days. Will keep for the fall and into the holidays.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is a variation of Grandma Mildred Julia Viola Hovrud Fossum's receipe. It was always a favorite in mid summer and fall on the farm. She often could not keep enough around for everyone.
