1 1/2 lbs extra lean hamburger,2 tbsp. butter, 1 c. chopped onions, 3 tbsp. flour, 2 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, 2 tbsp. soy sauce, 1/2 C. milk, salt and pepper to taste, sliced bread, toasted

Brown meat in a large skillet, then drain. In the same pan, melt butter. Stir in onions & cook until lucid. Add flour. Stir & cook for about 3 minutes.
Next add garlic powder, Worcestershire & soy sauces. Return all meat to pan & mix all ingredients together. Slowly add milk, stir until the mixture thickens. (May need more or less milk)
Serve over bread,toast or home fries.

Also a little known fact is that a true connoisseur of S.O.S. liberally splashes McIllenny's Louisiana Tabasco Sauce over before eating. Named after a US Marine, Walter S. "Tabasco Mac" McIllenny. I don't know what it is about greasy hamburger in a pale colored sauce over burned toast that gets the gastronomic juices flowing but it certainly does.
