1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 (21 oz) can apple pie filling
2 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon apple pie spice
1/2 cup milk
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Place shortening in a large mixing bowl; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add egg, beating until blended. Stir in apple pie filling.

Combine flour and next 4 ingredients: gradually add to apple mixture alternately with milk, stirring well after each addition. Stir in Cheddar cheese and chopped walnuts. Spoon batter into a greased 9 x 5 x 3" loafpan.

Bake at 350ºF for 50 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes; remove from pan, and cool completely on a wire rack
