3 lbs. ground beef (or 1 lb each of ground veal, pork, and beef)
2 c. fresh bread crumbs
2 onions, chopped
2 eggs, beaten
1 (8-oz.) can tomato sauce
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 (8-0z.) can tomato sauce
1 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. prepared mustard
1/4 c. brown sugar

Lightly mix meat, bread crumbs, onions, eggs, 8-ounce can tomato sauce, the salt and pepper. Form into a loaf in a baking pan with sides (does not have to be a loaf pan). Combine 8-ounce can of tomato sauce, the water, vinegar, mustard and brown sugar in a saucepan. Heat. Bake meat loaf at 350º, draining off any fat after 1/2 hour. Baste with sauce, then return meat loaf to the oven for another 1/2 hour, basting occasionally with more sauce. Serve and pour sauce over slices or chunks of meat loaf.
