Shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped green onion - optional

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onion and garlic in oil over medium heat and then add meat. Brown and drain excess grease. Add remaining ingredients, bring to boil, then lower heat and simmer and 15-20 min. Add the beans and cook 10 more min. Serve over rice with shredded cheese, sour cream or chopped green onion. Chili is actually better if made ahead and warmed up the next day so flavors have a chance to meld.

Actually MaMa's recipe kicked up with just a bit of Texas heat! Of course serve with Aunt Alice's Jalapeņo cornbread!
