3 cups Bran
2 cups boiling water
1 cup shortening (butter)
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 beaten eggs
1 quart buttermilk (milk and vinegar= buttermilk)
5-6 cups flour
2 tsp salt
5 tsp baking soda
4 cups Bran Buds (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Step 1: Pour water over Bran. Set aside
Step 2: Blend shortening with sugar. Add eggs and beat till light and fluffy.
Step 3: Sift dry ingredients. Add to shortening mixture alternating with buttermilk.
Step 4: Use a wooden spoon and gently stir in the Bran. (Add Bran Buds if on hand). Stir carefully.
Step 5: Grease muffin tins and fill 3/4 full.
Bake at 400 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.

Batter will keep for several weeks in refrigerator! Makes A LOT.
Batter makes a lot! It is very yummy if you add nuts. So healthy! :)
