4 oz. Baker's German Sweet Chocolate
5 tablespoons butter
3 oz cream cheese
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts (walnuts, almonds, etc.)
1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate and 3 tablespoons butter in saucepan over very low heat, stirring constantly; cool.

Cream remaining butter with cheese until softened.
Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, creaming until fluffy. Blend in 1 egg, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Set aside.

Beat 2 eggs. Gradually beat in 3/4 cup sugar. Add baking powder, salt, and 1/2 cup flour. Blend in the cooled chocolate mixture, nuts, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and almond extract.

Spread half the chocolate batter in a greased 8- or 9-inch square pan. Top with cheese mixture. Spoon remaining chocolate batter onto cheese mixture. With a spatula, swirl through the 3 layers of batters to marble.

Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes. Cool, cut into bars. Makes about 20.
