1 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder,
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 sour milk or buttermilk,
1 cup walnuts
2 cups raisins
1 cup dates

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and beat well.

Sift dry ingredients together; add to cream mixture alternately with sour milk; add nuts and fruits; drop by heaping teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. press walnut into top of each cookie if desired.

Bake for 375º for 10-12 minutes. makes 6 dozen cookies.
