2 big spoonfuls of cocoa 1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar 2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together cocoa, shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add, flour, powder, salt, and nuts. Bake at 350º for 30 -35 minutes. For a Chewier Brownie, substitute: 1/2 c. margarine for shortening, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 c. flour, 1/4 tsp. salt and omit the baking powder. Bake for 20-25 minutes

You don't have to use wheat flour, but I like it better than white. The wheat gives it more flavor, plus...it's healthier!
