1 cup shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 cup white sugar
1 egg well beaten
1 cup dark molasses
1/4 cup sour milk
4 cups sifted flour
2 cups chopped coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Combine shortening, salt, baking soda and spices blending well. Add egg and mix. Add molasses and sour milk (can make by adding a tsp of vinegar to 1 cup of milk or use buttermilk). Add flour and coconut blending well. Drop by spoon onto cookie sheet let stand a few minutes then flatten cookies by stamping a glass covered with a damp cloth. Bake 350º F for 12-15 minutes.
