1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
48 oz tomatoes
6 oz tomato paste
2 tsp. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
1-2 tbsp. garlic powder (more or less depending on your preference)
2 c. water
salt and pepper to taste

MEATBALLS:
1 lb. ground beef
3/4 c. bread crumbs (I like Italian ones)
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. dried parsley
1 egg, beaten
salt and pepper

SAUCE:
In large pot, add green pepper, onion, and garlic. Sauté for a few minutes. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, 2 cups of water, brown sugar, oregano, basil, thyme, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Simmer for two hours uncovered.

MEATBALLS:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, parsley, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt and pepper, and beaten egg. Mix well and form into 1 1/2 inch medium-sized meatballs and place on nonstick cookie sheet or a cookie sheet greased with olive oil. Bake balls 10 to 12 minutes, until no longer pink. Add to spaghetti sauce to simmer.
