2 c. flour 1 1/2 white sugar
1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking soda
1 can fruit cocktail 2 eggs
1 c. chocolate chips 1 c. nuts

TOPPING:
1 stick butter or margarine 3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 can evaporated milk 1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar and fruit cocktail (do not drain) until sugar is not grainy. Dump rest of ingredients into bowl and mix. Pour into cake pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts (both are optional). Bake at 350º for 30-40 minutes. It is done when toothpick inserted comes out clean and edges pull from side. It will be pretty brown on top. To make topping: (make while cake is baking) Put everything in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. Stir constantly. Boil for 5 minutes. Pour over cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
