4 large baking apples, peeled and cored
¼ c firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 T plus 1 tsp. butter or margarine
½ c apple juice
Red cinnamon candies

Directions:
Directions:
Place apples in an 8-inch square baking dish. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; mix well. Spoon about 1 T sugar mixture into cavity of each apple. Top each with a tsp. butter. Bring apple juice to a boil in saucepan, adding red cinnamon candies for flavor and color. Cover and bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes, basting occasionally with juice.
