1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 lb.mild Italian sausage
1/4 c. chopped onion
salt to taste
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
2 cloves garlic, minced
fresh sliced mushrooms
1 (14.5 oz) can stewed tomatoes
1 (14.5 oz) caned diced tomatoes
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

Directions:
Directions:
In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown beef, sausage, mushrooms, garlic and onions. Drain. Stir together stewed and diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, garlic powder, oregano and add into beef mixture. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for approximately one hour. Serve over hot pasta.

I usually leave out sausage upon request of my children. I also will add dried Italian seasoning or substitute for if no dried oregano or basil available. I never stick completely to any recipe, at times I will add green pepper to the mix and increase seasoning to taste. I usually use 2 lbs. of ground beef.
