Cream together:
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening

Then add:
2 eggs
1 cup persimmon pulp

Then sift together:
2 scant cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp each: cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, salt
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:

Mix well with electric mixer. Drop teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet, and bake in a 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until done.
