Directions:Turn oven to 400 degrees. Cut up the butter into a 9 x 13 pan and put in the oven to melt while you mix the remaining ingredients. Pour into the pan over the melted butter and bake for 20 min. Have everyone sitting at the table when you pull it out of the oven so they can ooh and awe over the puffy pancakes as they come out of the oven. (they fall as the cool air hits them). Cut and serve drizzled with Grandmas Caramel syrup. Syrup: While the pancake is cooking melt the butter in a sauce pan. Stir in the brown sugar and vanilla. Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and add. Stir on med high heat until thickened.

Notes: This is a new twist that our family put on one of Grandma's old recipes. When I was a little girl, grandma (mom) would make homemade syrup. It wasn't the clear maple stuff but it was a rich buttery caramel syrup. We use her recipe for that syrup but instead of putting it on regular pancakes we use it to top our German Pancakes. The caramel-sweet and the buttery-salty flavor of the German pancakes make a wonderful kettle corn type of mix.
