1/4 lb butter (half stick)
1/3 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c cornmeal
1 c flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Grease 8"square pan. Preheat oven to 175º.
Melt butter, slightly cool and put in mixing bowl. Quickly add eggs and beat until well blended. Combine buttermilk with the soda and stir into mixture. Stir in cornmeal, flour and salt until well blended and few lumps remain. Bake 30-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
