1 1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. hot water
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F.
Mix together soda & water in cup.
In bowl cream together butter & sugar
Add egg, vanilla &salt.
Add hot water & soda.
Add flour.
Form into small balls.
Press finger in middle of each. Fill with jam or jelly.
Bake until slightly golden.
