2 Tbsp butter
1 c. vegetable broth
2 sprigs fresh thyme
salt and pepper
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
In large frying pan, heat oil and butter. Add onions in one layer in pan. Saute on medium-high heat for 5 min. They should brown slightly. Add a little broth, just enough to come half way up the onion. Let liquid evaporate almost completely and turn onions over to brown on the other side. Continue adding broth and letting it evaporate until onions are tender. This may take 20 min or so. Add salt and pepper to taste. At the end of the cooking process, add balsamic vinegar and toss onions around to coat. Let evaporate. This will create a glaze. Serve.
