1/2 c. shortening
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1 T. lemon juice
1/4 tsp. almond or vanilla flavoring
1 egg white
2 c. powdered sugar
1 T. hot water
Directions:
Directions:
Place shortening in small bowl of electric mixer. Add egg white and cream of tartar. Beat 1 minute to blend. Add 1/2 of powdered sugar, beat smooth. Add flavoring and rest of powdered sugar with lemon juice and hot water. Beat until smooth and fluffy. Thinly frost cookies and sprinkle with colored sugars. Frosting can also be colored for special holidays.
