1 lb ground veal
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 c. milk
1 c. soft bread crumbs
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground lemon rind
1 egg beaten
flour
3 tbsp shortening
1 can mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Pour 1/2 c milk over bread crumbs. Add veal, pork, salt, pepper, nutmeg, lemon rind and egg. Mix thoroughly. The meat mixture will be soft. Coat hands with flour, then shape into 18 balls using about 2 tbsp for each.Brown meat on all sides using shortening. Pour off drippings. Combine mushroom soup and 1/2 c. milk and pour over meat balls. Cover tightly and cook slowly for 45 mins. Serve hot over noodles if desired.
