1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
4 cups cherries
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons shortening
1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Blend 1 1/2 cups sugar and cornstarch in small saucepan. Stir in cherries and almond extract. Cook stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Pour into 2 quart cassserole. Heat oven to 400º
Stir together flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, baking powder and salt. Add shortening and milk. Cut through shortening with fork 6 times until dough forms a ball.
Drop by spoonfuls on hot fruit. Bake 25-30 minutes until brown.
