1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Chill dough overnight. Shape into balls and roll into sugar. Bake @ 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Grandma Berhow was a mother of 11 children. At the age of 80 years old, Grandma Berhow went to Disney World and rode the roller coaster. There is a park in Huxley, Iowa, named after the family.
