2 cans French style green beans (or 20 oz frozen)
16 oz can bean sprouts, drained (optional)
8 oz can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 stick butter
2 Tbsp flour
1 1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
cayenne pepper to taste
1/4 c. Worcestershire sauce
1 pt whipping cream
1/2 c. slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º. In a buttered, 2 qt baking dish, layer beans, sprouts, and water chestnuts; sprinkle with cheese. Repeat layers. Melt butter, add flour and seasonings to butter. Gradually add cream and cook until thick, stirring constantly. Pour sauce over beans. Bake 20-30 minutes or until bubbly. Casserole may be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated before baking - it will give more flavor to the dish.
