1 pkg dried yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. melted margarine
1/2 c. cornmeal
1/4 c. cold water
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp salt

Directions:
Sprinkle yeast on warm water and let stand 5 minutes. Scald milk and pour over shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm; beat in yeast mixture, cornmeal, cold water and egg. Gradually beat in flour. Turn out on floured board and knead until smooth and satiny. Place in greased bowl; turn to grease top. Cover with a cloth and let rise 1-2 hours or until light. (dough does not double in bulk)

Roll to 1/4" thickness and cut into rounds with 2 1/2" biscuit cutter. With the back of a knife, make an indention across each. Brush with melted butter and fold in half, pinching together in the middle. Place side by side on a greased pan, cover and let rise in warm place 1-2 hours. Bake @ 400º for 15-20 minutes. Serve hot.

Yield: 2 dozen rolls
