2 cups applesauce
2 tsp. soda dissolved in applesauce
2 cups sugar
1 cup margarine or butter
1 cup chopped nuts
3 eggs
4 cups sifted plain flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
2 cups raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour,nutmeg,cinnamon m,cloves, and salt together. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, on at a time and beat well. Add applesauce flour and spices. Mix well. Add raisins and nuts. Bake in greased 10 inch tube pain at 325º for 1 1/2 hours or until done. may us icing if desired.


ICING FOR APPLESAUCE CAKE
1 box powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Enough cold coffee to make icing a spreading consistency

Cream butter. Add sugar and coffee alternately until all the sugar is used and the consistency is stiff enough to spread. Sprinkle nuts over icing.
