3 C. sugar
1/2 C. warm water
1/2 C. white corn syrup
3 egg whites (measure 1/2 C. to be sure)
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first three items; bring to a boil. Cook to hard stage. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt. Do not beat until dry, just until white peaks form. Pour boiled syrup slowly into egg whites with mixer at moderate speed. Beat until it stands in soft peaks, 10 to 15 minutes. Add vanilla and nuts (nuts are optional). Drop by spoonfuls on waxed paper.
