2 c. sugar
1 cube margarine
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons peanut butter, if desired
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 heaping cups Quick-cooking oatmeal

Directions:
Directions:
Boil sugar, margarine, cocoa, milk (and peanut butter if desired) for three minutes. Add one teaspoon vanilla and three heaping cups of quick-cooking oatmeal. Spoon onto waxed paper or cookie sheet and let cool.

When "we five" children came home from school and we spied these cookies in the kitchen, we made them disappear pretty quickly! It was hard to stay within mom's rule of "only three per person."
