1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 egg, beaten
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup coconut
1/2 cup walnuts or peanuts (chopped)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Melt butter and stir in sugar, cocoa, egg, graham cracker crumbs, coconut and walnuts. Press into a 9 x 9 inch pan. Combine sweetened condensed milk with lemon juice. Blend well and spread on base. Sprinkle with toasted almonds or pistachios or drizzle with melted chocolate chips. Refrigerate until firm (about 2 hours)

This is a very rich Christmas tradition in Canada. Nanaimo is a city on Vancouver Island. Apparently someone sent this square to a loved one - a logger or fisherman. Hence the name!
